Welcome to Aiken High School! As you begin the enrollment process, below is a list of required documents and information you should know prior to entering.

Legal Guardian
  • A student can only be enrolled with the presence of his/her biological parent or legal guardian.
  • In divorce situations, the enrolling parent must provide a copy of the divorce document granting physical custody.
  • A court statement must be on file before a student can be enrolled.
  • Legal custody refers to an action taken by a judge in a court.
  • A notarized statement from the legal guardian is not acceptable.
  • A picture identification card of the legal guardian or parent is required.

Residency
  • The student must live with his/her legal guardian in the Aiken High School attendance area.
  • Proof may be shown by such items as closing papers on a house, a lease agreement for an apartment, or a current utility bill.
  • The information provided must match the name of the legal guardian.

Birth Certificate and Social Security Card
  • The student’s birth certificate and social security card are required for enrollment.
  • You must have these copies with you at the time of enrollment.

Release from Previous School
For enrollment during the school year, withdrawal papers, unofficial transcript, attendance, and discipline reports are required. For summer enrollment, the student’s final report card must be provided if student is entering the 9th grade for the first time. An unofficial transcript is needed for placement in other grade levels.

South Carolina Immunization
South Carolina requires a specific immunization certificate. Out of state certificates must be transferred to a South Carolina certificate. Out of district students have 30 days to provide a certificate. An exemption form will be provided at the time of registration. Your physician or the local health department will be able to help you obtain this certificate. If the South Carolina Certificate of Immunization is not returned to the Guidance Office within the 30-day grace period, the student will be suspended from school until the form has been turned in to the Guidance Office. This is a South Carolina law.

Developing a Schedule
Several pieces of information are needed in order to assure proper placement of a student in classes:
1. A transcript that includes all courses taken previously, the level of courses and the final grades for those courses.
2. Students who receive special education services, the most current individualized education plan (IEP) and the most current psychological evaluation. The guidance office will request the official records from the former school once enrollment is completed. Unofficial documents provided at the time of registration will be used for placement purposes. When official documents are received from the former school, a guidance counselor will verify placement. If placement is incorrect, adjustments will be made as feasible and necessary including grade placement.
