Moodle: Back Up a Course

It is very important that you occasionally back up your course and save the file somewhere other than our server. Here is how to do that.

1. First, log in as usual:

create a book

2. Enter your course:

create a book

3. Go to Administration > Backup. (Click "Backup.")

4. In both columns, select "All."

5. At the bottom, choose "No" for logs and "Users" for "Course." Choose "Yes" for everything else.

6. Click the "Continue" button.

7. Near the bottom of the next screen, click the "Continue" button again.

8. You may have to wait a minute or two for Moodle to create the backup file.

9. Near the bottom of that same screen, click the "Continue" button again.

10. Save the backup file to your hard drive, your thumb drive, etc. (Right-click on the link and choose "Save as...")

In the event that something bad happens to the server, we can restore your course from this file.
